Juror's Comments 2019 TD Thor Wealth Management Juried Exhibition:
"Our third prize winner, Michelle Lewin, stood out at first because of the impeccable presentation with a message that unfolds elegantly the closer you inspect. It requires the time and patience of the viewer to unleash its full metaphorical meaning. Lewin’s piece ‘The Game’ is a glass chess set, where each piece contains a delicate memorial to animal which has become extinct (sic). The photo transfers of these specimens, visible through a glass window under a dome, adds a much darker narrative to the game of chess. It addresses not only our power, but the casual nature with which man has historically treated other living things. Lewin gracefully tackles deep issues of global fragility and resilience in a relatable and beautiful way."
